"the nature of His call on my life. It's different" ...and now for something different :) while visiting the Xianz site, i ran into a musician that caught my attention. A very positive man of God, and one that seems to be quite different from the norm. His character always seems to be upbeat, encouraging, and genuine. So i invited him to an interview to know a bit more about what makes him so unique. feel free to pray for him and the ministry he's been involved in, i'm sure he would appreciate it! and now for the interview :).................................
1.) What is your real name?
Anthony Patrick Prince. "DLivahh" is my rock name/band name, and Tony King is my stage name.
2.) Do you have family? a wife or children?
Yes! My wife is Renee, who has stuck with me loyally thru some very rough times. And I have 4 kids by her. I also have 3 grown sons and a daughter who is in the Natl. Guard.
3.) So, when did you first come to know the Lord? Jesus saved me when I was 17. In 1974. I remember the day just like it was yesterday. He delivered me out of a dismal life. When I was a child I felt I knew God, sort of, and always thought I was special. But for years I was lost. But then Jesus gloriously saved me!
4.) What is the signifigant reason you chose the name "DLivahh" for a band? DLIVAHH (D-LIVE-AHH) represents my real life ministry, and what I do: I am a deliverance minister. My songs represent that facet of my life, and that I've been delivered from a bunch!
And since several people and artists already were using my last name (huh, imagine that!), I wanted something unique.
My hopes and prayers are for folks who listen to be delivered
from the darkness and mundane and transported to a higher type of life -- And also to hear some fabulously great music!
5.) How would you describe your music style to people who have never heard you? The word I always get from folks is "different". I am obviously coming from rock roots, so that's gonna be there. I've also been compared to a few well-known artists (thanks, I feel flattered!), including John Lennon! So, there is a mix of sounds & styles that I would say is uniquely DLIVAHH. And I might add, that I do NOT follow a ccm standard, or try to
follow pop radio formulas. I love creativity.
6.) What is your motivation for what you do? Matthew 25, unequivocally. I do not want to come up short on that great day, and have God ask me, "What did you do with the talents I gave you?" I refer to myself as "an artist who is a christian" rather than a "christian artist". God has me doing and being and reaching out more toward the world; and that is why I'm Indie and in "the mainstream". It's the nature of His call on my life. It's different (there's that word again!)
7.) How does this affect your music ministry? I think it is the reason for doing.
But not all music is for ministry per se. Some music should be for fun & good times. God has a party going on in heaven all the time, so why not down here on earth?
And if it must be called "ministry", lets take that word to a different level, and to a different place. Like playing in a city park downtown at lunch time, and having the business suits walk by, and one shakes your hand and says, "Thanks for those songs. I
was really having a bad day until now. Thanks!"
8.) If you were to have one thing that you most desired, what would it be? I know this might sound ridiculous, but I'd like to be a billionaire, so that I can do everything the Lord has laid on my heart to do in this world, and for humanity, and trust me, it's gonna take a LOT of money to do it! SHALOM DLIVAHH
